Entry Level
Certificate in Business Accounting

The CIMA certificate in business accounting is CIMA's own entry route to the CIMA professional qualification.

You may be exempted from some or all certificate papers if you have a relevant degree, have completed the AAT Technician stage, or have studied another professional accounting qualification.

Your degree or accounting qualification may also exempt you from some operational and management level papers.

This is CIMA's own entry route to the Professional Qualification. You can sit the five certificate subjects in any order and in any combination to suit your requirements.

EXAMS


CIMA certificate in business accounting is examined by computer based assessment.

To enter: You can sit assessments at any time of the year.

Pay assessment fees to the centre

You pay the assessment fee to the centre ' NOT to CIMA. The fee for 2011 is GBP45 per subject assessment.

Objective test questions are used in CBA.
AFTER TAKING THE ASSESSMENT


Receive results and feedback when you finish
You will see your results and indicative feedback onscreen as soon as your assessment has finished. (It will take between five and seven days for your results to show in your MY CIMA account).

If you are successful, you will receive a certificate of achievement and your exam status will automatically be updated at CIMA.

If you are unsuccessful, the feedback will show where you should focus your studies in the syllabus. You can arrange your resit when you are ready.
PROGRESSING TO THE PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION


You must:
  • Pass all five certificate computer based assessments (unless you received exemptions) before sitting any operation or management level papers.
  • Complete all computer based assessments by 1 March to be eligible to sit any operational/ management papers in May, and by 1 September to sit in November.
